GLYC is an accredited Discover Sailing Centre, and welcomes people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities to find out how fun, safe, accessible, and affordable sailing is.
In 2014/15 and again in 2015/16 and 2016/17 we were recognised at the Victorian Sailing Awards as finalists for the Discover Sailing Centre of the Year. In June 2017, we were awarded the Australian Sailing Award for our Contribution to Junior and Youth Sailing.
This season GLYC is proud to offer the following programs:
Each of these programs map to the Australian Sailing Pathway
Discover Sailing Days are offered for FREE at many sailing clubs around Australia. They are a fantastic way to have a great day out with your partner, family, friends or work colleagues. Clubs look forward to showing you just how fun, safe, accessible, and affordable sailing is.
GLYC's 2017 Discover Sailing Day is being held on Sunday 29 October.
A number of our members will be available at the club and there will be opportunities to join them for a sail (weather pending). Please register your interest via the GLYC Discover Sailing Day registration link, or contact our Discover Sailing Principal, Sharna Duff via email@example.com
Get Active Sailing is an initiative developed in conjunction with VicHealth to get people more active through the sport of sailing. GLYC welcomes community groups and businesses (of all sizes) to come down to the Paynesville foreshore to experience how enjoyable sailing can be. Full day, half day or twilight sessions in both dinghies and keelboats can be tailored for your group. Contact out Discover Sailing Principal, Sharna Duff via firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your specific needs.
Local community groups and business who have already taken advantage of the ‘Get Active Sailing’ opportunity at GLYC include:
“Special thanks to James and Anthony, for giving our families a great experience out on the water. It was a fun day for everyone” Mark Howlett
“I loved it. I didn’t know sailing could be this much fun” Sam McVilly
