Trophies

This list was compiled from information in the 1995-1996 GLYC Yearbook, historical documents and the knowledge of long-standing members. Most of the trophies can be seen on the walls of the Loft or in the trophy cabinet.

GLYC PERPETUAL TROPHY - THE LIFEBUOY AND BELL

This trophy is awarded annually since 1947 and is for comparison over a series of fourteen handicap races on a points system to determine the highest racing aggregate for each season. This trophy is awarded for the overall club champion based on Personal Handicap.

VYC/GLYC DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONS - THE BILL GAMBLE PROJECT CONSULTANTS TROPHY

This trophy is awarded using VYC/GLYC rating to determine the best racing aggregate over a series of fourteen races. This trophy is awarded to the VYC/GLYC Divisional Champions.

JC DAHLSENS PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy shall be awarded to the fastest GLYC yacht over a series of races i.e. first over the line.

VENTURE TROPHY

This trophy shall be awarded to the fastest single handed yacht over a series of races i.e. first over the line.

JOHN TREVORROW PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for personal handicap in Division 1.

KING & HEATH PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for VYC/GLYC handicap in Division 1.

LESSELS PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for personal handicap in Division 2.

WGM GROUP TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for VYC/GLYC handicap in Division 2.

PAC DINGHY SAILING RACE

This trophy is awarded for personal handicap in Division 3.

SAM TURNER MEMORIAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for VYC/GLYC handicap in Division 3.

HARBOUR PARK PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded tor personal handicap in Division 4.

EAGLE STAR PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for VYC/GLYC handicap in Division 4.

"A" DIVISION MULTIPLE AGGREGATE TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for the combined VYC/GLYC handicap and personal handicap for division five.

FOUR WINDS PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy shall be awarded for the winner of the Ocean Grange Race as outlined in the Deed of Gift using personal handicap.

CG DRUMMOND TROPHY RACE

This trophy is awarded for the winner of the annual C.G. Drummond Trophy race using personal handicap.

JOY CROFT PERPETUAL TROPHY

This trophy is awarded to the winner of the annual Loch Sport and return race using personal handicap.

LB CRAWFORD TROPHY

This trophy is awarded tor the first G.L.Y.C. registered yacht on handicap basis in the annual around Raymond Island Race.

JK LLOYD TROPHY

This trophy is awarded annually for the J.K. Lloyd Long distance race using personal handicap.

WESTPAC TROPHY

This trophy is awarded for the club Flying Fifteen Class Champion.

RS THOMSON TROPHY

This trophy is awarded to the most improved yachtsman in the opinion of the sailing committee.

THE LAST HOME TROPHY

This trophy is awarded to the hardworking crash boat and tower crew for their tireless work during a season.

WEBSTER MARINE GEAR BREAKER TROPHY

This trophy is awarded after a point score race has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and a decision made to sail a scratch race.

TUESDAY NIGHT TROPHY SERIES

This series is raced on personal handicap.
