Sailing Program

The Sailing Program for 2008/9 is underway and details are available on the Calendar page. Copies of the Sailing Calendar, Sailing Event Entry Form, and Sailing Event Declaration Form can be downloaded here.

Race Results

The race results generated by TopYacht for the normal Club racing events can be viewed on the Race Results page.

Event Results

Results of GLYC events and regattas which are not scored on Top Yacht can now be viewed on the Event Results page.

The Major Events page also includes a Results Archive which provides links to some championship results from previous years.


Race Day Responsibilities

Officer of the Day Duties:

  • Check during the week before race day to confirm rostered duty crew will attend
  • Meet duty crew 2 hours before start
  • Place sign on sheets on bench
  • Receive weather report from computer or call RAAF Base Sale 5146-6111
  • Conduct Race Committee Meeting 90 mins before start. (This meeting is to determine course settings, nominate Race Officer etc.)
  • Allocate duty crews to work boats
  • Put course and other Supplementary Instructions on chalkboard
  • Turn PA system on
  • Conduct briefing 60 min before start. Include club announcements

and after the race:

  • Collect finish times from start boat and give to Computer Operator
  • Handout protest forms as needed
  • Ensure that all boats have signed off and collect sign off sheets
  • Announce provisional results
  • Turn P.A. system off
  • File results, sign on/off sheets, incident reports etc. in folder
  • Ensure responsible person will lock building

Duty Crew Duties:

  • Report to OOD 2 hrs before start
  • Raise Club & Australian flag
  • Ensure regatta buoys inflated and at jetty
  • Remove rubbish from ramp
  • Remove cover from Judy G (and check fuel)
  • Launch R S Thompson & Lachie Crowther if necessary (and check fuel)
  • Attend race committee meeting 90 mins before start
  • Crew on rescue boats as needed

and after the race:

  • Have trailers ready for rescue craft
  • Wash out motors on rescue craft. Store boats and lock all shed doors
  • Ensure wire gates under club storage are locked
  • Place hoses back in breezeway
  • Lower all flags
  • Empty trash bins

Tower Watch Duties:

  • Monitor radios on ch94/27meg and ch73/VHF(use portable VHF if leaving tower)
  • Remove sign on sheets 5 min after last start
  • Replace with sign off sheets
  • Check that all boats have left the shore
  • After last start, report to the start boat number of boats entered (by division)
